Fiberglass Pools are much more expensive than vinyl liner pools.

TRUTH:

Fiberglass Pool Myth #3

Myth #3:
Fiberglass pools pop out of the ground.

TRUTH:
A Crystal Palace fiberglass pools will never pop out of the ground if it is properly installed. This is because our fiberglass pools should always be filled with water and the surrounding concrete engulfs the pool’s outer lip, making it impossible for the pool to move unless the concrete moves with it. If any type of pool is installed in an area with a high water table, it is the responsibility of the builder to properly install and safeguard the pool against possible damage due to the high ground water whether it is a fiberglass, vinyl lined or concrete pool.

Fiberglass pools only work in warm climates.

TRUTH:
It is an accepted fact in the swimming pool industry that fiberglass has the ability to “flex” due to its incredible tensile strength, much more so then any other type of pool (i.e. concrete). When someone is concerned about freeze conditions having an adverse effect on fiberglass, they are forgetting that when the water in the pool freezes is expands in an upward direction which has no barriers. The simple fact is that Crystal Palace Pools has never had one customer sustain any damage to the fiberglass shell due to freezing weather conditions.

Cinco de Mayo - Guacamole

Here is a very delisious recipe for guacamole in celebration for Cinco de Mayo. This recipe and simple and children friendly. So get the kids to help and enjoy!

Guacamole
What you will need:
3 tablespoons finely chopped white onion
4 chiles serranos
2 rounded tablespoons cilantro
teaspoon sea salt
3 large avocados
2/3 cup tomatoes, finely chopped, not peeled
Topping
2 tablespoons white onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoons heaped, finely chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons finely chopped tomatoes

Grind the onion, cilantro, fresh chiles, and salt into a rough paste. Cut the avocados in half, remove pits, and scoop out the flesh. Mash the flesh roughly into the chili mixture, Mix well.
Mix in the chopped tomato, sprinkle top of the guacamole with the extra onion, cilantro, and tomato.
Serve immediately, inside a fresh, warm, corn tortilla.

Everyone has played the classic swimming pool game of “Marco! Polo!”, right? Now there are many other fun and entertaining pool games that can be played with friends and family!

Here are a few fun swimming pool games!

Duck Racing: Run to the store and pick up some rubber ducky and waterproof markers. Make a number on the bottom on each ducky. Have each person choose a duck and drop them in the water at the starting point. Pop a balloon for your starter’s pistol and watch the duckies waddle to the other end of the pool. First one to the end WINS!
Beach Ball Races: Give each guest a beach ball and the one who can push it to the opposite end of the pool, with their NOSE, first becomes the winner.
Treasure Hunt: Gather up some items from around the house that will sink to the bottom of the pool and are easily visible and maybe some that aren’t so easy to see. Have everyone close their eyes or turn around as you throw the items into the pool. Whoever finds the most treasures wins!
Raft Race: If you have a long enough pool, have your friends and family get on a raft like inner tube and paddle from one side of the pool to the other using only your hands.
Marco! Polo!: This classic pool-time favorite is always a great choice. Blindfold one guest and have him/her yell out “Marco!” which the other guest yell out “Polo!” Whoever the blindfolded guest touches becomes “it.”

Let's Help One Heartland

Mason’s Walk had a great outcome on Sunday morning at Walsingham Park in Largo, FL. About 80 walkers showed up to support Mason’s Walk and raise money for The Katelyn Foundation, a non-profit organization that teaches underprivileged children to swim.

Mason’s Walk helped raise $5,527 which will be used to teach 135 children to swim. Viking Pools would like to thank anyone and everyone who help accomplish this.

With that being said let’s see if we can help out another great organization. One Heartland needs to raise an additional $60,000 by the end of March to ensure a robust, fun-filled summer of Camping programs! To date they have raised $32,155 so that’s only $27,845 to go in only a few days. We can do it!

One Heartland creates community, offers respite and builds lifelong skills by providing an accepting environment for children, youth and their families facing social isolation so that they may lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Here are some quick facts about One Heartland:

In 1993, Camp Heartland was founded by then 22-year-old Neil Willenson of Wisconsin

Camp Heartland is the largest camping and care program for children who experience HIV/AIDS. Over 75 percent of Camp Heartland's participants live in poverty.

Camp Heartland is a national program that welcomes children from 40 different states

As most of the children cannot afford tuition, through the generosity of thousands of individuals, corporations and foundations, Camp Heartland's programs and services are provided free of charge to all participants

One Heartland operates camps in California, New York and Minnesota and has begun an international expansion.

Since 1994, One Heartland's Journey of Hope AIDS Awareness Program has traveled throughout the United States on a mission of increasing HIV awareness, prevention, education and testing. The speakers on the tour are children affected by HIV, poverty and other challenges.

One Heartland annually serves thousands of suffering and at-risk children in the United States including those who experience poverty, HIV/AIDS, grief, foster care, Tourette's Syndrome, and other obstacles.

On April 1, 2008, after completing a strategic planning process, Camp Heartland chose to expand its mission and vision and form an umbrella organization entitled One Heartland. One Heartland will operate all of our programs including Camp Heartland, Birch Family Alliance, Camp Pacific Heartland, Journey of Hope AIDS Awareness programs, Global Heartland, the Heartland Institute and more.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

With Spring just around the corner and the social season well on its way, Crystal Palace Pools wants to share this scrumptious recipe for Double Tomato Bruschetta. It will be the perfect appetizer for your next poolside party!

Prep Time: 15 Min

Cook Time: 7 Min

Ready In: 35 Min

Ingredients

6 roma (plum) tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, packed in oil
3 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup fresh basil, stems removed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 French baguette
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

Preheat the oven on broiler setting.
In a large bowl, combine the roma tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, basil, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes.
Cut the baguette into 3/4-inch slices. On a baking sheet, arrange the baguette slices in a single layer. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes, until slightly brown.
Divide the tomato mixture evenly over the baguette slices. Top the slices with mozzarella cheese.
Broil for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

With the warm season right around the corner we are sure you are eager to open your Crystal Palace Pool or have one installed very soon. Remember that safety is always the number one importance in pool use. With company over, kids running around, and everything else going on, you want to make sure that your pool is safe for everyone.

Have a conversation with your pool provider about the correct use and installation of safety devices like; safety ropes, child safety barriers, pool surface alarms and safety covers. Every pool should be surrounded by a locked and gated fence in compliance with the National Spa and Pool Institute’s guidelines, as well as with local building and safety codes. Safety should be the first priority of any new or existing pool owner.
Make sure to take all the necessary steps to assure that you, your friends, family and anyone else in or around your pool are familiar with the guidelines of its safe and sensible use. Due to the non-porous finish of Crystal Palace pools, fewer chemicals are needed because algae are less prone to attach to smoother surfaces. Additionally, less cleaning will have to be performed using automatic pool cleaners saving electricity. When automatic pool cleaners are used, the time it takes to clean the pool will be reduced saving additional cost.

As fiberglass pools do not rely on steel panels or steel mesh/rebar for structure, they do not have the potential to leech chemicals and rust back into the groundwater as a more conventional constructed pool would.

Fiberglass pools in general act as a natural insulator. Your filter and heater will potentially run dramatically less then equipment on vinyl/gunite pools. Depending on the climate and size of the pool, a homeowner can save up to $225.00 a month on their pool maintenance with our pools verses other types of pools (vinyl/gunite).
